Information you provide directly
- Account information. If you sign in, we collect the email address you use for authentication.
- Messages or support requests. If you contact us, we may receive the information you include in that message.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data. We use analytics tools to measure page views, course progress actions, quiz interactions, and general product usage.
- Device and browser data. Our service providers may receive technical information such as browser type, device type, approximate location derived from IP address, and similar diagnostic information.
- Learning data. We may store course progress, completion state, and quiz-related learning data tied to your account so your experience can continue across sessions.
Information stored in your browser
Music Maps uses browser storage for product features and convenience, including items such as:
- theme or UI preferences
- login flow state, such as a saved sign-in email during email-link authentication
- course interface state
- consent or preference flags for certain interactive features
- local map or viewport preferences
Interactive feature data
- MIDI access. If you choose to enable MIDI features, your browser may share connected MIDI device details with the app so those features can work.
- Audio features. Music Maps generates and processes audio in your browser for interactive lessons and widgets.
How we use information
We use information to:
- provide and operate Music Maps
- authenticate users and maintain accounts
- save progress and personalize the learning experience
- understand usage and improve performance, content, and features
- maintain security and prevent misuse
- comply with legal obligations
Service providers and third parties
We may share information with service providers that help us operate the service, including:
- Firebase / Google for authentication, data storage, and analytics
- YouTube when embedded videos are displayed or played
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not request microphone access as part of the current Music Maps experience.
Retention
We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Browser-stored data may remain until you clear it or your browser removes it.
Your choices
You can usually:
- choose not to sign in, though some features may then be unavailable
- disable or limit cookies and browser storage through your browser settings
- decline MIDI permissions
- stop using embedded third-party services such as YouTube content

Security
We use reasonable measures designed to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
International processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, depending on where our service providers operate.
